The Chairman of the Islamic City Council of Tehran emphasized on the international cooperation in the field of urban management and said: Global challenges such as climate change, human crises, and economic inequalities require answers based on local experiences.

According to the Islamic City Council of Tehran, Mehdi Chamran at the technical session of "Development of parliamentary diplomacy at the level of capitals and large agglomerations in BRICS countries" on the sidelines of the 6th International Urban Forum of BRICS member countries said: I am proud to be present today at the 6th International Urban Forum of BRICS and welcome you on behalf of the city of Tehran and the country of Iran. This great gathering is a symbol of our common determination and determinatio to improve the level of international cooperation and sustainable urban development.

He added: This forum, which is a turning point in the history of international urban cooperation, provides an exceptional opportunity to analyze and promote the vital role of urban parliaments in the present era. Today, cities are recognized as the main centers of growth and change in the modern world. The challenges and opportunities that exist in these spaces require synergy and international cooperation. In this meeting, we have the opportunity to find effective solutions for urban problems by exchanging experiences, examining challenges and exploiting new ideas.

Chamran stated: In today"s fast-paced world, the need to develop sustainable infrastructure, improve the quality of urban life, and promote coordination between public and private institutions is felt more than ever. This forum, as a strategic platform, provides many opportunities to discuss these issues and can help strengthen the relations between cities and BRICS members.

They are responsible for ensuring the effective participation of citizens in decision-making processes, infrastructure development and improving the quality of life. City parliaments are at the heart of sustainable development processes. By formulating and implementing strategic policies and plans, they are responsible for managing natural resources and achieving sustainable development goals. In this regard, promoting public transportation, optimal waste management, and supporting green initiatives are mentioned as examples of their responsibilities. This role is particularly important in facing global challenges such as climate change and environmental crises.
