Chamran at the BRICS International Urban Forum:
BRICS cities should stand by the defenseless people of Gaza
In his speech at the opening of the BRICS International Urban Forum, the chairman of the Islamic City Council of Tehran called for the strengthening of the solidarity of the member countries of this group and asked the officials of these cities to stand by the defenseless and oppressed people of Gaza and defend the rights of the oppressed people of this region.
According to the Islamic City Council of Tehran, Mehdi Chamran in the opening ceremony of the 6th BRICS International Urban Forum in the Moscow added: The solidarity of BRICS cities leads to closer people-to-people relations between the member countries, and it is ideal that these cities be connected like a city and be coherently placed next to each other; In this case, the resistance and construction of these cities will increase.
The chairman of the Islamic City Council of Tehran, who was accompanied by the Iranian ambassador to Russia, the mayor of Rasht and the deputy mayor of Tehran, considered the communication between big cities to be the basis for the communication between nations.
He continued: The relationship between people in the BRICS member countries cannot be ignored, but must be emphasized.
Chamran said: People-to-people communication between BRICS countries increases the influence and position of BRICS.
He pointed out: If the strengthening of these relations leads to the connection of BRICS cities, it can also strengthen economic and political relations.
The chairman added: The communication between BRICS metropolises can develop organ transplantation beyond the political and economic spheres and strengthen it in the cultural, artistic, social and emotional spheres and add to the stability of relations.
Chamran further emphasized the importance of BRICS cities benefiting from each other"s experiences and called for the joint efforts of these cities in the face of problems and incidents.
It is worth mentioning that the 6th BRICS International Urban Forum started in Moscow on Tuesday with the presence of representatives from the Islamic Republic of Iran and other members and partners of this group.
In this ceremony, Kazem Jalali, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia, Ali Asghar Qaemi, the member of the Transport and Traffic Commission of the City Council of Tehran, Majid Bagheri, the Vice President of Planning and Human Capital Development Affairs of the Municipality of Tehran, Rahim Shoghi, the Mayor of Rasht, and Mohsen Samakchi, thr member of the Rasht City Council, accompanied Chamran in this ceremony.
The meeting of the International Municipal Forum of BRICS is being held for two days, with the focus on developing and establishing network cooperation in various issues specially climate agenda in Asian, Middle Eastern, Latin American and African cities.
Mehdi Chamran is also scheduled to deliver speeches at two other technical sessions of "Development of parliamentary diplomacy at the level of capitals and large agglomerations in BRICS countries" and "BRICS Urban Climate Agenda".
The concept of the forum is aimed at the development of international inter-city and inter-parliamentary cooperation, the change of innovative practices in the sustainable development of macro policies. This event is supported by the President of the Russian Federation, the Roscongress Foundation, the Foreign Ministry Russia and the Government of Moscow. Since 2020, the BRICS IMF has been included in the events" official calendar of participating countries of BRICS Intergovernmental association.
About five thousand representatives from more than 100 countries and 80 regions of Russia are present in this two-day event. This event includes 13 business areas and more than 70 business events. In this international forum, the cooperation of municipalities in international level, economy, digital technologies, industry, energy, urban infrastructure, transportation, environment, health, education, science, culture, sports and tourism will be discussed and investigated. This event is accompanied by a large-scale exhibition.
