In a meeting with the governor of Havana, the chairman of the Islamic Council of Tehran emphasized Tehran"s interest to exchange experiences and information in urban areas, especially in the field of tourism diplomacy.

Mehdi Chamran, the chairman of the Islamic City Council of Tehran and Reinaldo García Zapata, the governor of Havana, had a friendly meeting to discuss investment opportunities.

While thanking Mehdi Chamran for his invitation, Havana Governor said: I know how important you and your family are to the people of Tehran. Because we studied history and found out what actions your family took for the revolution. And for this reason, we decided to have the first meeting with you for this sisterhood meeting that the mayor of Tehran invited us.

He added: We have declared sisterhood between Tehran and Havana for 22 years and we have a very good relationship and we hope that this relationship will continue to expand. We must expand the relations between the two countries and continue to progress.

Governor of Havana stated that we have common enemies and emphasized on laying the groundwork for increasing the unity between the two countries and added: enemies have always tried to destroy us but has not succeeded and will not succeed.

He added: We should help each other both in the fields of diplomacy and in the other fields so that we can strengthen this alliance even more, and I was talking to the mayor personally about that in which fields we can cooperate with each other. Let"s work together and both sides would be satisfied.

This Cuban official noted: We know what good efforts your country has made for us, especially in the field of oil, and we also tried to help you during the outbreak of the Covid-19 disease by transferring the vaccine technology to produce the vaccine domestically and thanks to this cooperation the people of both countries can travel easily without masks, while the people of many developed countries still have to use masks.

Reinaldo García Zapata, the governor of Havana, emphasized: "We can work together on different fronts, in addition to the oil issue, we can get help from you in transportation and electricity, and in return, help in the pharmaceutical, health, science, and sports sectors." and we hope that these cooperation will improve the lives of the peoples of the two countries.

He also stated: It is true that we have a common enemy, but we also have good people who make us united because even though we are geographically far away, our hearts are close to each other and our duty is to protect our people from our revolutions and defend their social conditions. Both nations are ready to give their blood for the other nation, and that is why we want to plan for our country"s president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, to visit Iran in the next few months, which we think will be a good opportunity to expand bonds between countries.

Chamran also expressed his happiness about meeting with the delegation of Havana and said: We also know the country of Cuba well and we feel very close to the Cuban people, and most of the closeness can be attributed to the fight against imperialism.

Chamran added: "We are still witnessing the strictness of America in relation to Cuba." Although they announced publicly and officially that they have removed all forms of sanctions, we know that they have not been removed and that there are still sanctions and we ourselves have felt these sanctions. Mehdi Chamran pointed out that it is true that this sanction It was very difficult for us, but we benefited a lot from it, and the result was a self-sufficiency and internal scientific leap, quoting a memory, he added: When I told martyr Dr. Chamran, who was the defense minister of our country at that time, that the United States had sanctioned us. Instead of being upset, he said thank God. And indeed, these sanctions brought us to a place where the example was the vaccine that was achieved jointly between Iran and Cuba.

The chairman of the Islamic Council of Tehran continued by mentioning that Havana is a city that has many old and interesting places same as Tehran and these common points can be valuable for us.

Chamran added: "Tehran city management is ready to exchange experiences and information with the sister and friend city of Havana, because you, like us, have the experience of worn-out texture and old spots, as well as the construction of new cities, and we can well cooperate with you.

At the end, Chamran emphasized: In any case, I hope that we and you will reach very long-term and valuable results from this short trip and that we will be able to take the best benefits both in consolidating the friendly and sincere relations between Iran and Cuba and in establishing the sisterhood relationship between Tehran and Havana. .

Havana governor noted: We wholeheartedly invited the mayor of Tehran to visit Cuba, and it is an honor for us to invite you to visit Cuba.
